If I was your DH I would be pissed too, your parents should have given you money if they know she is like that with food, but my 17 year old sister has a disability and has the mind of a five year old but she will eat what she is given or she knows she will go without, even with a disability she has been raised to have that much respect.

Thank you   I will. Hopefully he listens. I finally broke down and bawled today. I just couldn't take it anymore. Feeling a bit better getting it off my chest an venting.

Yeah she can read

I was thinking about doing this. But the idea came to my mind too late.

I don't blame you. You don't have her in your house 24/7 and to have this on your plate is stressful. Especially when he is not fully understanding of her needs. I would just wait it out a while. Maybe a few weeks or so and bring it up as a casual conversation. This way he doesn't feel attacked and he can gain a little understanding as to what her specific diagnosis is and what it all entails. I get the brand thing. Things that are out of a comfort zone make it hard on them so to be out of the home and then to not be given the "brand" they are used to could cause more stress than needed.

Hopefully this weekend will be better for you guys!

Exactly and plus with the added separation anxiety for never being away from my mum since she was two (she's a foster child, but we consider her adopted) is eating away at her. I literally had to drag her from my mothers arms when they left, she was screaming and crying   we were in a public place and people were just staring at me like I was trying to kidnap her.

My mum felt so bad but she needed this holiday.

That is alot. your mom did need a break. I am sure she will come back more rested.

However, she could have planned this a little better. Maybe sleep overs at your house here and there for a few weeks prior to her leaving and some help with grocery $$ would have been a good start.
