American Supernanny O_O

Is anyone watching this? the parents are both unemployed have 10 kid and twins on the way, hit their kids and constantly yell at them and call it discipline. It's super crazy but the nanny lady made a good point. the parents are constantly hitting their kids so their kids constantly hit each other. That got me thinking about my parenting...If i hit my 2 year old its a slap on the hand and normally only when were out in public. It's quick and effective and now when he starts acting up (running across the mall, trying to unbuckle his seat belt) I just ask do you want me to spank your hand? and he listens right away. Is this ok?? I mean it works but lately he'll go 'bad mommy' and hit me on the leg (i grab his and and say dont hit mommy and make him look at me). do any of you use another form a discipline when out in public at home i can put him in time out but i can't do that at the mall or the grocery store. any ideas?

I do time out no matter where we are.

You leave the store and go home. Continue or finish your shopping another time.

I give my oldest a good swat on the butt even out in public, it embarrasses her more than anything. And then she isn't allowed back to the store for a week... going to the store is her favourite thing. lol

I think im going to give this a try. 2's are such a trial. fun but definitely trying and I'm constantly worrying about not raising him right *sigh*

Agree. That logic is a big reason why I decided against spanking. (not saying anything is wrong with parents who do spank, just saying it wasnt the right choice for me personally)

I spank on rare occasions. Mostly when is just refusing time out or does something on the more extreme side. She will "spank" me if I say a bad word but thats it. I have put her in time out at the mall, the doctors office, disneyland, friends houses, restaurants, target, ect. If her behavior is just out of control we just leave or at least sit in the car until she has calmed down if its something I cant really leave.
