Put to sleep for csection?
posted 8th Jan
There is a high possibility I will need to be due to complications during the last one.
My question is, have you been put completely under for a scheduled csection? How quickly were you awake afterwards? I want to bond as quickly as possible afterwards and attempt to breast feed but not sure how long I'll be out.
Thank you!

I think it is usually right after they have the incision closed they begin to wake you up.

i was only put completely out for my emergency c/s. my scheduled one i was awake for (even tho she didn't want to wait until her scheduled date).
i was ready for her before she was ready for me; but she had complications

General anesthesia typically takes only minutes to wake up from (10-20)... Unless you have an adverse reaction.

I had an emergency c-section and no matter how much I begged I didn't get put to sleep until after they took my daughter out, she ended up going to the NICU right after so I wasn't able to see her until the next day.

I was awake during all of mine but my friend was put our during her last one and she was woken up about 20 minutes after she was stitched up. You can put it in your plan that your baby WILL be breastfed they are NOT allowed a pacifier or a bottle and noone is allowed to hold them(except a nurse when absolutely necessary) until you are able to have them! That's what I did with my last one who is 3 months old in 3 days. I wanted to be the first for everything so I made sure they all knew what I wanted and put my foot down!

I was awake for the whole time during my scheduled c-section.

I had an emergency one 12 years ago at a horrible birthing center that closed shortly after. The did two epidurals during my 12 hour labor that did nothing. They finally took me in for the csection and the local didn't work, I felt when they started to make the first cut so they had to put me out completely. I have problems with the numbing stuff I guess But I almost bled to death on the table and it was 12 years ago so I know it was different back then and I had issues and I don't remember at all time frame wise how things happened SO thank you all for your feedback! I really appreciate it!
I am working on the birth plane, I have the no formula, sugar water or pacifiers and no procedures done unless myself or husband is present and a few other things. So here's hoping! This doctor is much nicer in a large established posh hospital, so here's hoping!
