I would make him get on the phone and explain to his son why he hasnt seen him...your son deserves to know.

I use to call at bedtime or before preschool and let C talk to him and he would tell him. It never changed. Finally, I quit calling to see how often he would call. He never did.

Could they skype? It might help a little.

Oh my heart goes out to you. I am like you. I let my ex get my son whenever. He blew off my son yesterday to help a friend move.   He never calls, he doesnt text me to see how he is doing. I am understanding, but when I say no to him seeing him, he gets pissy with me saying that he was trying and I better not spew smurf. My son gets hurt, now hes realized that daddy has a life and hes not included. Its sad. Because he will talk about my ex and his wife and their kids like he just saw them. My ex hasnt had any contact with my son since jan 1st. And this is totally normal. And it shouldnt. And my son will be 6 in april.
