How do you know what children are meant for?

We don't have an overpopulation problem in the world.
We have too many people in SOME places with too few resources.

Lol!

What if I have an older sister say and she already has 3 kids so has effectively used up my space and birthed my "replacement" kid does that mean I shouldn't have any?

You are a psychotic hypocrite.

If you were truly against overpopulation, you would have stopped at two and not have bullied your SIL so you could sickly justify why you can have more than two but not everyone else.

But your idiotic logic, I could have well over seven children. Two for me, two for my younger brothers who dont want bio babies, one for my gay cousin and so on.

Legitimately laughed SO hard at that.

But seriously. I don't care how many kids other people have as long as the kids are well loved, taken care of, provided for,and educated. If a family has the means (financially, emotionally, mentally) to have 30 kids, go for it.

But I DO believe that there are many MANY people out there who should not have kids. People are wreckless, careless, neglectful, and just plain stupid. If they can't legally force someone to not have children they should at least have people obtain a parenting license.

Normally no I dont agree. But in cases where someone is having kids and they get them taken away after each one. Yes I think they should not be allowed to have kids.

I know someone that has 7 kids, who are all in foster care. While pregnant with her 7th kid, the CAS and our court system order her to have her tubes tied, to prevent and 8th 9th and so on children being born to her. The government is the one paying and caring for all 7 kids. Why have kids if you cant care for them at all. ?

Realistically that's a pretty flawed idea too. If someone has an unplanned pregnancy and they have to obtain this parenting license then what exactly are the conditions? What if they don't meet the conditions or don't pass a test and they have to resit or reapply and the parenting license isn't obtained in time do they take the child away until it is?

It definitely has some kinks that need to be worked out huh? haha
It is very flawed but would be awesome if it was obtainable. I don't know that the idea of the government preventing people from having children is obtainable either. And it's sad. No child should have to suffer at the hands of an unfit parent.

In my perfect world, parents would have to pass a test in order to get pregnant

Lol it is a good idea but it isn't workable, it would be good though as some people just shouldn't have kids.

Again good idea with good intentions but not workable   You could get someone who is really good at passing a test but is effin' crazy and will abuse and torture a child and then someone who can't pass certain tests but would make a wonderful parent.

Firstly, I seriously doubt I would have been granted a parenting license when I got pregnant. Having her however, changed my whole life. DH and I turned everything around and in three years we were able to graduate college, get a house, save for her education and thouroughly research parenting applications that suited her development. Are we perfect? Certainly not, but we have worked hard to create the best possible enviornment for our child despite initial struggles.

We cannot live in a democratic society and infringe on the reproductive rights of other people, period. If today we say we can stop a woman from having children because other's are in foster care, perhaps tomorrow children will only be granted to stay at home mom's. If we say that children can't be born to women on welfare, tomorrow they might decide on a minimum income to justify having a child. Reproduction is one of our most basic and primal instints, if the government seeks to exert control over it, we are all going to lose.

I agree with much of what you wrote.
I believe that in this case she was given 2 or more options. She chose the more controversial option.
