I am already on leave. My employer was worried about me going into labor early at work. I am the only person in my building and if I were to go into labor there would be no one there to watch over all the cash. My owner wasn't happy with that though and I am his first employee to need maternity leave.

Ya, my doctors were convinced I would go early for the same reason as the OP. Because I was a first time mom, dilated and effaced early on. She came on her due date, so.. not early lol. I'm curious to see how my new doctors are, so far they are totally opposites, since they are a midwife and OB practice.

I definitely want her to bake as long as she needs. its just really exciting to think she could come soon. and she's really active in there and running out of room

Because it COULD happen at anytime. Anytime doesn't necessarily mean in a few days, could mean in a few weeks.

first time mom also...i was due today and im 50 % effaced 2 cm dilated an no baby yet.

labor dust! lol. my ob didn't say anything about effacement. but then she wasn't really in there long... but I sure am uncomfortable down there now  

don't hold your breath. I walked into my induction apt. 10 days late, 5cm dilated, 100%effaced and not contracting!

your dr. is giving you false hope.

I have been having light contractions this past week. nothing painful, mostly just uncomfortable. I guess we will see

yeah totally not strong enough to b the real thing. but they do seem to be getting me ready for the big day...however soon or far off that may be lol

i was 2 cm and had 3 membrane sweeps and it didn't do anything lol

why would they do so many? trying to get your water to break?

because i had a 20 month old so they tried 3 times within 2 weeks to get her out

I was 2 cm and 75% effaced for three weeks then finally hit 3cm and still waited two weeks before my duaghter came. Not trying to say its impossible, just that it doesn't mean much. Don't try to rush it. I thought I was so ready for my daughter the day i went into labor I was at 3 cm for 4 or 5 hours and had to get a c-section done. Good luck though I know how hard these last weeks are.

thanks! I go to the doc tmw for a membrane sweep. Fingers crossed that it will do something
