We're doing that this month. DH has no debit card, and we can only spend what is in our budget of bills....we also slashed grocery spending.

I kind of enjoy it, like a game..my goal is 25 no-spend days (bills don't count and food/gas don't count unless I go over budget). From Dec 28-Jan 30 is the one we're on now and I have 12 no spend days so far, halfway to my goal! It'll be harder when we get paid monday.

We have 2 car payments my car was just bought in Oct so there is no paying that off soon, lol but I want to get hubbys pd off asap so we only have 1 car payment. We also have student loans we have to pay off. Im just paying what I need to on those and focusing on paying dh's car, the credit cards and more savings before I move onto student loans and my new car, =/ one day it will all be paid off! Lol

DR would say to pay off your debts in order of the smallest balance to highest balance and as you pay them off you don't change the total amount you pay to debt each month, thus a "snowball effect" allows you to pay them off faster. Make sense?

yes, im doing exactly that! I know how it works I have his books! =) we are also doing envelope system

I used a heavily modified version of his plan something like 6 years ago to get us out of debt. The only thing I don't like about DR is his stance on tithing while trying to get out of debt but that's the only real issue I take with him. He's a great motivator and his plan is solid.

We are giving, though nowhere near 10%...more like 1%...but once we are debt free we will tithe again.

I have more of a John MacArthur opinion of tithing anyways.
