2cm Dialated and 80% Effaced what does this mean?

So I went to the doctor and she told me that I am 2cm dialated and 80% effaced okay somebody help me out what does this mean? I am supposed to be induced on the 20th but my family seems to think thats not going to happen.....So can anyone help me out?????

It doesnt mean anything.. Youl could be dialated 2cm until the day you are induced

It means that your cervix is thinning, when you are 100% effaced or completely effaced, your cervix is paper-thin and labor quite possibly could be coming soon. 2cm dilated means that your cervix is opening, at 10cm you are fully dilated and pushing should begin shortly after you reach the 10cm.

It means you're getting ready to have a baby. 100% effaced you should be around 4cm if I'm not mistaken.

yeah doesnt mean much cause 2 weeks ago i was a 3 and 80% and blah nothing still  

yeah I didn't want to get to excited....I mean I am but I feel like if I get too excited nothings going to happen.So it'a all just a waiting game
