Attorney for child custody

Has anyone had to hire an attorney for child custody manners when they didn't have a cent to spend on one? Were they able to arrange payments? I am really interested if anyone has had to do this and their story with it. Long story short my first Daughter is with her father, my ex husband, and he is not allowing me to see her and the court isn't doing their job with making sure he is communicative with me, etc.

Whoa! How did he get her in the first place? I thought they could only do that if your an unfit mother?

No, there's lots of situations where dad could end up with the child.....depends on the whole situation.

Base legal only deals with military issues but they give you counsel. Which...I'm waaaay past. Lol. I wish they would provide attorney's for off base issues that would be awesome!

That's a bummer, they helped with my divorce from the ex, I mean they helped HIM because he was the active duty member, is your ex still in too? Because if there is a custody agreement in place and he is violating it his chain of command should certainly be able to help. I know it was a pain in the ass for me but after getting the support agreement in place his squadron FINALLY helped me....sucks if they can't help, sorry  

call around a lot of attorneys will work out a payment plan. the courts are also supposed to appoint you one if you cant afford one...

my hubby could not afford one when he was trying to get his son, and it screwed him. the courts appointed him to pay for half of her attorneys fees which was 6000$

sorry that he is being a pain in the ass. my husbands ex is a pain in the ass too. she threw a hissy fit becuase we didnt take him to DAY CARE on my husbands day off.... telling us we were ruining his routine (he is 6.5 and being raised by full day day care and 6 extra curricular activities, he never sees any of his parents... she wonders why he has stress problems) since its summer time, and we pay for half of his day care- we are not going to take him when my hubby is homeand can spend time with his son...

No he got discharged. If I took him to court he wouldn't have a chance. Maybe I should stop trying to do all these questions over the phone with the court and maybe make an appointment to go in...if those exist. Lol.

WOW that is ridiculous. Her son probably doesn't even know her. I can't stand people that take advantage of their providers either thats not cool.

hey when dick took me to court, i didnt have an attorney (and the courtdate was just 5 days away) and i had no money for one either. so i went to Legal Aid on a wednesday and they appointed me an attorney. i sat w/ her in her office, discussed the ENTIRE situation about richard, then i had to fill out tons of paper work stating that i do not have income and cannot afford an attorney and all that crap...and then she met me at court on friday, just 2 days later!   i was really surprised that she did it that fast

So check into legal aid..its a BIG help

Yeah but I wonder if that is only when you are being brought into court. Like...I am the person wanting to take him. Do you know what I'm saying? But hell yeah that sounds great. I am def. going to contact the court tomorrow and ask a shit ton of questions.

yea, you can still get an attorney even if YOU are the one taking him..
its still a court issue...but i dunno what your income is and if it meets their guidelines for them to accept your case?
i have ZERO income right now so they took my case

call legal aid first and tell them about your situation...and they can tell you what to do from there
