Don't you love it?

When your friend brings her kid over to play and doesn't make him help clean up?
They dumped the whole toy box in the living room, when it was time to eat lunch I announced it was time to clean up. Her kid started having a fit about how he didn't play with them all so she said "well just pick up the ones you played with". He picked up like, 3 things, despite the fact that he helped my son empty the whole toy box!
I mean, what do you do in that situation? Grr.

I think it's kind of rude but I never have that problem. My friends kids ALWAYS help clean up.

I wouldn't make a guest in my house clean up. If I were the child's mother I would get him to help, but as a host I wouldn't demand it.

Not invite the friend over and suggest you go over there and not worry if you child cleans up or not. That is what I would do but I don't have any friends who's kids do that so I really don't know. Maybe try talking to her?

My son has done that before but if he does I will help clean up. I wouldn't just leave the stuff there just because my kid was throwing a fit.

I treat guests like guests personally. I mean, if I go to a friend's home, I insist my daughter help clean up if any mess was made, but whenever friends come over to my home with their children, they always go into my daughter's room to play. I take them snacks to eat, and I always pick up myself after my friend leaves. I think it's rude to expect a guest to clean your home. I wouldn't invite someone over for dinner and then expect them to help with the dishes, for example.

Probably next time just keep a few toys out to play with so that doesnt happen.

She needed to clean up if he isnt going to.

When people bring their kids over to my house, I get a two things out per kid and shut LOs door to block off the rest of the toys. Too many toys out is just asking for a huge mess.

Mine is 4 and hers is 5. It's a big deal because I didn't want to spend 30 min yelling at my kids to clean it up and I had just gotten the living room clean when they came over.

Maybe I'm just hormonal, they weren't invited though she just let me know she was stopping by like 10 min in advance.

To the people who "treat guests like guests" so would clean up after them...i'd rather teach my kids responsibility and cleaning up after themselves, no matter WHERE they are, rather than trashing someone else's place, then throwing a fit to get out of it....

My friend who comes over a few times a week, her kid used to be like that, but she helps him pick up at the end of the day too, we all clean up together.
It's stressful at times, ha, cos he can make a big mess, but i'd definitely be upset if at the end of the day they just left and a huge mess was there- especially since my kids know to pick up after themselves.

I didn't invite them, lol.

I dunno, I make my kids clean up when they make messes regardless of where we are.

This.

If kids come over to play, then I expect to be the one picking up when they're gone. I'm not going to demand the house be spotless. As a mother, I would have my child help.
