Dialation quest. !!

posted 8th Jan
So I'm 34 weeks 2 days pregnant and I'm curios to know if I have started dialating yet. Those of you who may know, at how many weeks does your doctor start checking you for dialation? I know it may not mean nothing but right after she dropped two weeks ago my BH have become stronger and last longer. 3 days ago I had them for 5 hours straight which kinda freaked me out because they were pretty strong and not going away. I felt EXTREMELY nauseas and the pressure I had I not only felt it infront in my vajayjay but in my behind. Sorry too much info. But I would sit in the toilet thinking I had to poop but no it was all just pressure. After 4 hours I filled the bathtub and relaxed in there for about 45 minutes and it actually did the job. Since they stopped I decided not to go to the ER however I will mention that to my doctor tomorrow just incase. So was that all normal. It's my first pregnancy. And do you think I could be checked for dialation?

My doctor doesnt check until 38 weeks but I was curious at 36 and asked him about it so he said he would check me then if i wanted to be. Just ask your doctor and see what he/she feels about that. Checking for dilation doesn't mean much though. You can go a month at being 3 cm dilated...

I refused to be checked. You can do that. It's not necessary or a sign of labor. I also refused all but 2 checks in the hospital during delivery.

I forgot to mention that at 29 weeks i had to get a shot to stop my contractions. I just don't want the same thing to happen again& if I were to go into labor I can't wait too too long before going to L/D because I'm scheduled a c-section instead of a natural vaginal birth because of the surgery I had a month ago. Thanks for replaying though. I'll asked him tomorrow and if he feels like he should check then ill let him and if not then I won't worry about it either. Doctors know best

Its not bad to be checked, its uncomfortable though (hurts)! Its just not really necessary because like I said dilation doesnt mean much. Some people go into labor not being dilated at all while others start dilating at 30 some weeks and are 3 cm and go PAST their due date. The baby will come whenever they are ready.
I'm one of the curious ones though so I say "yeah check me" and deal with the pain for a couple of minutes. Its just totally up to you.

It's not bad to be checked. It can put you at risk for infection. Since I was not planning on having a csection I didn't want to risk it. Plus in the middle of labor I didn't want to sit still while they did. I let them check when they started my induction and when I said I was ready to push. That was it. But if I was at risk for preterm labor and had to have a csection anyway I would probably have them check too.

It's completely unnecessary to check for dilation. Tomorrow you could be completely closed (0 cm), and then a half hour later you could be at 4+. Not only is it unnecessary, but you run the risk of introducing bacteria and getting an infection.

Okay thanks ladies. Even though I'm really curious I rather avoid an infection. I'll just let him know what been going and let him decide. I've also noticed EXTREMELY light brownish discharge which my mom told me it probably means nothing as long as its not actually red . Thanks for the responses though!!
