Quoting Cat Abbott:" Mine broke on its own well into labor, when I was in the shower. I need to say, though, doctors never ... [snip!] ... doctors never HAVE to break your water. They CHOOSE to, for dubious reasons that have not been validated through research."
Quoting KelsiShae:" So you can actually deliver with your water still intact? Does that have complications? Hm...guess i'll have to google that!"Yes, and no. It's called being born in the caul. It used to be seen as good luck.

Quoting Erica ☆★:" I'm kind of scared about my water breaking while im in the shower =/ "Why scared? It's less messy that way! I actually didn't even know my water broke, I was dozing in the shower after getting a shot of morphine at the hospital and getting sent home.

Quoting Angel S See:" with all of mine so far, they have broken it in the hospital, wishing to have one break on it's own for the experience, this is #6 and our last."Just refuse AROM. Tell them you do not want your water broken, in advance and on the day. Research it yourself so you are confident in your decision. It is not necessary for your waters to be broken artificially. Baby will still come out whether it breaks on its own or not. There are risks to AROM, and the supposed benefits are dubious. Stand up for yourself.
