Trouble.

posted 8th Jan
Has your older child ever done something that as soon as it happened they knew they were in so much trouble (more accident then on purpose type things).

And they knew you were really going to be angry cause it was unfixable or high in cost to fix it. But even thought it happened and you were fuming, everyone was on the same page and no yelling or grounding etc....was required?

Mostly in older kids, like 8 and up I'll say.

DD is 10 and just in the past few weeks this has happened. First was the day after Christmas when she shattered her ne ipod by accident. I saw it happen and there was no point in yelling or being mad, she knew.

2nd was last night. She set a plastic lid for a container (like a margrin container) on the hot elament to my parents brand new ceramic top convection oven. And the pastic melted right into it. We thought by what we read online it was an unfixable job, but after 3 hrs of my dad lightly scraping it (picture and letters from lid burnt into the stove) it actually came off (thank god)

It was an accident, clearly. She does know better then to put plastic on the stove, but hey I am gulity of it too. It was just one of those things that, if it was permanet damage its done, cant be fixed. No point in yelling or getting all worked up over it, right??

Grrrr kids tho, I was shocked my mom didnt flip her lid, normally she would. Hell she would have flipped her lid if it was me. or my dad.

I wonder sometimes why we as parents yell and get worked up about crayon on the wall, but when something big happens we are like, well they already known they are in trouble...kwim? lol

Oh well. So what big accidental no no has your kid done?

My DD is 3. And she found a pen. And drew all over her mattress and new bedroom set. She knew it was wrong because, she hid her pen behind her dresser against the wall. Only she could reach it. She's smart and did it because of that commercial on tv of that tent where you can write and it glows. She thought it was okay to write on walls. I didn't even have to yell or anything because she came and told me.
