Periods after a D&C and Confusion

Ok, so I had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks with twins. They stopped developing at 12 weeks. And since then, my first period was for about 4 weeks and then there was light pink spotting. Now its back to when Im supposed to have a period and it hasnt happened yet. I'm scared I might be pregnant again, which scares me because I dont think I can go through another loss. I am RH negative, but so is my husband, so Im hoping that shouldnt pose any type of problem. But any type of help would be very nice. My question is if anyone else has ever gone through this type of situation where they had an abnormally long period after a D&C and then might have become pregnant right after or had a late period. Yes, this same exact thing happened to me as well. They told me not to expect a "normal" period for at least 6 months. I bled, and bled, and then when I was actually supposed to start, I didn't. I was also worried because I didn't think I could handle another one either. I wasn't pregnant at that time, but right after my first "regular" period, I got pregnant again, lost it. And 3 months later got pregnant again and lost it as well. But your periods may come at a different time now, I wouldn't invest too much worry into the timing.

It's pretty much like after a normal pregnancy. Your "period" was really lochia, which can last up to six weeks. And it takes a while for your hormones to regulate so you might not have a regular period again for quite some time. So sorry for your loss. My friend's daughter lost twins at 20 weeks. So heartbreaking.

Even though they did a D&C there was still quite a bit of HCG left in your system. It takes awhile for it to get to zero and that's what causes your first period after a D&C to be late. After my first two D&C's from miscarriage it took me six weeks to get a period (both of those losses were about six weeks). I'm still waiting on my period from my last D&C which was three weeks ago but that one I lost at 15 weeks and I'm still getting positive HPTs. My next period will likely be at least three weeks late, maybe more.

Im not gaining any weight, but then again, when I was pregnant, I was so nauseous that I couldnt eat which caused me to get down to 108 pounds. Are my levels still possibly high? Because if so, I dont want to take a pregnancy test in case it freaks me out with that little plus sign only to find out its from the twins.

Oh I see.
There was a girl on here, I can't remember her name, who was still testing positive on HPT months after her abortion. So it seems it's quite possible you could get a false positive. The only way to be sure would be to get a blood test, and if that one is positive, another one to see which way your levels are going.
