re: Touchy subject but need advice

I only have a daughter (am preg with a boy now, so not going through this yet). Air on wounds usually helps them heal faster though. Could you leave a diaper off and let him lay on a waterproof pad to let it get some air for a while each day, and then put the vaseline on when you put the diaper on? That seems like it may be a good option? Don't know from experience though, lol. Just a guess.

i think it's one of those things where putting the Vaseline and gauze on and it taking a little longer to heal, out weigh not putting it on and risking him ripping off the new skin and it getting infected.

I agree! I would def put something on it when a diaper is on. But nakey time and out to air I don't think would hurt anything for a lil while each day. (I am just giving options, like I said, I really don't know.LOL) I would prob call the Dr just to be sure, but I'm kinda paranoid about things.

hmmm, i'm not sure. i would defiantly bring it up with your pedi. i'm not sure if it's just my son, but i know that his feet reach all the way up to that area. so, i don't know if that would create the same type of problem with his feet touching it and all.

I also did it until I felt it was healed.

Just follow your own instincts op. you don't want his oenis to stick to his diaper, that will cause the new skin to be ripped off so the Vaseline, and enough of it, should be continued until that stops happening. other than that just watch it and follow your instincts.
