Upstairs Bedroom

When we moved into our home we thought our family was done expanding...well, our little surprise will be here in April  . As a result someone has to move to the upstairs bedroom. Our home was built in the 1950s so its the room over the garage type thing. I think we should move up there and let the kids stay downstairs close to the bathroom and away from the stairs but my DH is worried about being far away from them. I, on the other hand, can't choose which one I would move there so I think its best for us to go....help please!
Any advice is appreciated!

He's three..but extremely destructive. I'm having a hard time thinking he would be safe with his very own set of stairs.

I think the kids should be the highest floor. Our last house had one room on the third floor that we took and both kids were on the second floor. One night my husband came home from work early without telling me and set off the alarm. I thought someone had broken in and all I kept thinking was that they would get to the kids rooms before mine.

If anything, I would move us downstairs and have the kids upstairs. If an intruder comes in, I would be there to greet them.

maybe keep the baby in your room for a little while, and once you feel you son can handle his own room upstair move him up there. i wouldnt be comfortable being upstairs while my children are on the main floor.

I wouldn't be comfortabl;e with my children being closer to the entrance than me. As others said if an intruder came in I would want to be the first one they got to, not the kids.

Seems silly now but I didn't even think about the intruder thing...I was too consumed with how I was gonna redecorate lol. Makes sense now...guess my little guy is going upstairs
