What Do You Think?

posted 8th Jan
So my SOs mom was talking to me the other day about this lady she knows. Apparently she is a single lady, but really wanted to have a child. So she went through the process of IVF. Mind you, she doesn't have any family in the US. So she ends up pregnant. During the very first ultrasound, the doctor said he thought she was having twins. Well they had another ultrasound a few weeks later and the doctor confirmed she was having QUADRUPLETS. Insane right? I mean I seriously couldn't even imagine lol. What would you do? What do you think of this situation? She is single, no family here..pretty much no help.

Hopefully be rich enough to afford multiple nannies?

But, wow. That would be tough. I do not think I could handle 4 infants on my own.

Hm I think it was silly of her to put 4 inside her to begin with but her choice I guess. Hope she can afford them!

Lol right! And I know..I don't know how I would handle even twins..even with SO and all my family. Let alone 4 all by myself!

Yeah. Wow.

I think what I would come around to is adopting a few of them out. But, man... how the hell do you choose?!

Right! I don't think I could handle adopting any of them out. But at the same time, I don't know how I would mentally handle keeping them either. I honestly think I would hire at least one live-in nanny to help me out!

She will probably have a TV show like the rest of the people out there. Kate Plus 8 was all about the money and plublicity (sp?) in the beginning so they could afford all the kids.

Eh. There are plenty of people with multiples who don't get TV shows.

I'm pretty sure she is already fairly wealthy.

If I was away from family, I would hire a nanny.

Did two of them split? Or were they poor quality and/or 3 day embryos? How old is she? There is not a single RE in the US who would transfer 4 decent quality 5 day embryos. No way.

And they would be cramming it down her throat to reduce. They encourage healthy moms who have support to reduce with quads. The risk for loosing them all is HIGH. High enough to say you'd have a much better outcome to reduce by 2. More likely they transferred 2 - maybe 3 embryos if they had one or more of poor quality in order to end up with quads.

If it is true I wish her the best of luck. It is not a position I'd want to find myself in ever.

Unless the embryos split, her doc should be shot.

I hope she has a LOT of money for hired help.
