how do you discipline your kids??
posted 8th Jan
Ok... I read so much from people who don't believe in spanking their kids. What is your opinion? I firmly believe that this is the main problem with kids now days. They don't get any discipline. Idk about you but I got my ass whipped when I was little. My kids know when I've had enough, I will whip them. Call me mean, I don't care. But by golly my kids have manners and know their boundaries. Yeah, they are typical boys. They fight, they try to get away with things when I tell them no but they don't disrespect other people and act like brats towards others. If you have anything negative to say about me regarding my comments here, don't waste your time. This is strictly out of curiosity and I really don't care if u think spanking my kids makes me the world's worst person.

I don't think you can blame a society filled with entitled people solely on lack of spanking. There are bigger issues here than that.
We use timeouts, our kids lose privileges (tv and leap pad), and our kids receive spankings if needed.

I talk to my daughter in a stern but loving voice. Shes never been spanked and says yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir. She rarely needs a time out.

We do the corner
But if they are doing something life-threatening or repeating things they just got in trouble for I spank them.
Just a swat on the butt.
I've seen people on here act like when you spank you're hanging them from the ceiling and giving them a lashing lol.
Its not for everyone or for every child, but it works for me

Time outs and loss of priviledges for this family. DH and I got plenty of ass whoopin's while growing up. We're both ex-cons, have been to prison, fought addictions and have struggled with anger issues.
I really don't think the decrease in ass whoopin's is the problem with younger generations

my daughters not born yet, but i think spanking is okay in certain situation, my parents never spanked me or my younger siblings, i have manners my younger siblings walk all over them, i probably only turned out with having manners because one time when i was 15 i was being a rude little teenager and got out of line with my father and he smacked me across the face (i wouldnt do that), that was the last time i disrespected him .

We do time out, and stern talking to. Then progressively taking toys away.
I don't spank and my kids are extremely well behaved and polite. Even my kid with issues from his parents getting divorced.
I know spanking does nothing. In fact, DH used to spank our oldest. He stopped doing it about 6 months ago and his attitude and everything has changed IMMENSELY for the better.

We spank (rarely) but we do.
We also take items away. Take away cookie or ice cream (whatever it may be) after dinner snack/dessert. Push their bed time to earlier time or take TV time away. Time outs.

toys taken away and time out one thing my daugher understands is that i will not allow teasing of another person or smart ass comments..like the other day i told her to clean her room she told me no you do it...ummm excuse me im mom you will do as you are told...when she was little we did have to lightly slap her handfrom touching things cause we believe not everything shouldbe placed up high

I agree with this. Spanking or lack of isn't what's wrong society. My son has never and will never be spanked and he's a polite 4 year old. If anything he gets time outs which are rare, I'm talking one every fewmonths. I can't even remember the last time he went to time out or he gets talked to in a stern voice and that's enough for him to stop whatever it is.

Heathen is 4 and we do time-out.
I haven't had to put her in time-out in about a year.
She is a well mannered, well behaved kid. She is polite and smart and just plain awesome
