Uterus removed...

posted 8th Jan
Has anyone had this done? Just the uterus nothing else.. sub-total hysterectomy A friend of mine is in need of having this done. Doc said its not an emergency removal so she can do it when she has the time but shes worried about recovery and how sex will be after and all that jazz.. I tried googling but didn't find much so I thought I would try here and see if anyone has had it done and could explain it better or give their experience?

its a sub-total hysterectomy which means just the uterus comes out not the tubes or cervix

Like a partial hysterectomy?
My friend had to have it done. She's actually thinking about having the rest removed because she's having more problems.

From what I hear sex is still great.... lol I think she was down for a few weeks before feeling "normal" again. They did laproscopic instead of cutting her open, so it wasn't too long of a recovery. She feels completely normal now though.

more probs how? if ya don't mind sharing...

my friends only prob is her uterus has fallen / collapsed and is basically falling out. Doc said her "walls" are too weak to hold it in even with the exercises he told her to do they wont hold the uterus up.

She's been in a lot of pain lately. They found 4 cysts on her ovaries and gave her the option. She said she's not going to have anymore babies anyway, so why not just get rid of the rest and not be in pain anymore.

Not that I know of. I'll see her in a few hours so I'll ask to make sure.

Someone I know had to have it done. Her uterus was really scarred up. It took her a couple of weeks to recover physically... but she was a hot mess emotionally. Had to go on anti-depressants and all. Her hormones were all over the place.

I'm pretty sure sex was the same for her, though. Not that I asked but she never said anything about it and she was still having it sooo... lol

doc told my friend it wouldn't mess with her hormones if he just took the uterus. hum gonna have to tell her that one bc shes already having probs with hormones from the birth control shes on her body doesn't filter them out like it should.

Ok, so I lied. She didn't have laproscopic done. She said it took 6 weeks for recovery and even after that she still hurt for a few weeks.
She said in her experience, she didn't have any weight gain/loss and she didn't have any hormonal problems. It was just the recovery time with her that took forever.

Glad I asked her. I had it all wrong. I could have swore she told me it was only a couple of weeks. But maybe I was thinking about her gallbladder surgery. lol

You know what? Now that I think about it, she had an entire month off of work afterwards. Hmm... lol

This person I"m talking about and I are no longer friends so I can't really go and ask her for details now  .
