Wetting the bed

posted 8th Jan
So recently my 3yr old who has been potty trained for well over a year has been wetting the bed almost nightly. Ive stopped his liquid intake around 7pm already, he goes to bed at 9pm. I make him pee before he goes to bed too. Idk what to do, he still sleeps in my bed (whole other issue) so every night my bed is soaked in pee. My brand new damn bed. I really dont know what to do at this point, do I put him back in pull ups?
I know that change can cause this, he has been in a new daycare going on 3 months now and this started about a month ago not sure if its related.
Ive tried talking to him about it and he shuts down and says "nothing happened"
Any advice would be appreciated!

Post and run!! TIA!

Sorry no advice here. I'm currently going through the same thing with DS who is 6 yrs old. His isn't nightly, but just sometimes he is so wore out that he sleeps through it and doesn't go in the middle of the night. I do make him wear pull ups at night only. His pedi doesn't think nothing of it and says it just may be because he is a heavy sleeper.

Try a waterproof mattress sheet like the plastic kind. DS has one on his bed and I also have one in case of accidents. It keeps the mattress from smelling. Also, before bed try only water and/or milk.

My son is 4 and still wears pull-ups to bed, though he's been potty trained for a year or so. Also a waterproof mattress pad because he sometimes soaks through the pull-up. We don't give him any drinks after dinner and he pees before he goes to bed...but sometimes he sleeps a solid 12 hours and just doesn't wake up to pee.

No drinks for 2 hours before bed   I could never do that.
My kids bring drinks to bed as I do.

Anyways. you need to get them up to pee in the night and after about a few days to a week of doing that every 4 hrs or so, they should be able to get up and go on their own in the night and not wetting the bed.

Just explain that he isn't a baby and this is only done at night just in case he does have an accident.

I will, Im going to try it tonight. I talked to him about wetting the bed this morning and and told him we are going to have to wear pull ups. He had a heart attack and cried. I told him its just in case, and he is not a baby. But were going to have to see how it goes.

Keep me updated. Good luck too. It sucks but it sucks to wash sheets everyday too.

Id start getting him up in the night consistently at the same time and see how he does. Its not hard to sleep train kids to where hes getting up at that time of night to go on his own. I personally would do that before pull ups.

I was thinking about this, but he is such a heavy sleeper and will fight me. He fights every damn morning to get up. This kid is a terror, no lie. He will fight about everything and anything he can. Which just turns everyone into a grump. But its worth a shot.

Mine is the same way! He's a little TERROR if I wake him up before he's ready. In the morning I have to let him wake up on his own or he's unbearable. Which means he sleeps til 8-9 most days.

I don't know what else to tell you besides pullups at night...

I wore pullups at night, ebarassingly, until I was probably 7. Doctor said I had an underdeveloped bladder and it was very hard for me to hold it, so when I did get the signal to pee I had to go right away... and a lot of times if I was sleeping, I wouldn't wake up until after the fact :/
