I'm just curious if anyone in here would know why I pos. so

posted 8th Jan
So just for the hell of it I was looking back thru the calendar of the last few months to see if I could narrow it down myself for a better due date for fun for my appt tomorrow which is when I'll actually, well hopefully find out how far along I am. Okay so I was re-counting from my LMP to when my next one should have started and I realized the first time I counted it I accidentally gave myself a 35dy cycle instead of a 28dy cycle. When I counted it I thought it was normal cause I was on the pill and had 3wks no period then a period for a week then 3wks no period but I accidentally did 4wks no period a week of period then 4wks no period. My LMP did start 1 1/2 weeks early but my next period shouldn't have started Dec 12 like I thought cause Nov 7 to Dec 12 is 35dys not 28dys. So my actual period was due Dec. 5 but I didn't get a faint positive test until Dec. 16th then blood confirmed with levels of 20 on Dec. 17th. Any idea why it took so long after AF was due for me to get a positive?

It has nothing to do with when your period was due. What matters is when you ovulated and even in women with regular cycles ovulation can vary sometimes.

I've just never known anyone to test so late. I tested the 13th and 14th ( 8 and 9 days after AF was due) and both were negative. Another friend who tested positive tested positive with levels of 160 2 days before her AF was due. Is it common to ovulate so close to when AF is due? I always thought you usually ovulate 2wks before

You do usually ovulate about two weeks before a period. That variable is common amongst even women who have irregular cycles. What changes the length of a cycle is the day that ovulation occurs. Even though your period was due on a certain day, that doesn't mean you would have have gotten it that day if you didn't get pregnant. If you ovulated late, then your period would be late also. What you need to know is your ovulation date but the only way to know that for sure is if you charted your BBT or had a blood test or ultrasound.

ETA Maybe cervical position but I'm not familiar with that method.

Its just so frustrating to not know how far along I am actually am or to have a better due date then just sometime between Aug. 14 and Sept. 5 know what I mean? :/ I had an ultrasound done Dec. 21 and going off my last period I should have been 6wks 2dys but the tech saw nothing not even a sac just that my uterus wall thickened. I had blood work done the Monday before then (the 17th) and my levels were only 20 so the tech said it was scheduled to early to see anything. I went to the ER for bleeding and severe cramping on the 24th and they said everything looked fine even though I didn't get another ultrasound cause it was really late. My levels on that day were 714 so they went up a lot in that week. But that still doesn't tell me much about how far along I am.

714 puts you at about five weeks. If you had an ultrasound today you should see a sac and yolk sack, and maybe a fetal pole but not a heartbeat yet.

What were the dates of both betas?

Your doubling time is 33 hours. That's fantastic.

You'll be able to get a much more accurate due date at your ultrasound tomorrow.

I've been told that (: For some reason I just feel un-easy about this pregnancy, I never felt this way with my boys but I also had my first ultrasound and saw them right off, 6wks 4dys and then 8wks 4dys. I think going in for an ultrasound and thinking I was 6wks 2dys from my last period and then not seeing even the sac kinda freaked me out.

That would freak me out too. Try to remind yourself that being that your HCG was only 20 at the time, there was no way to see anything by ultrasound. Also, a doubling time of 33 hours means that so far this is a healthy pregnancy. It is possible it could be ectopic but you will know tomorrow if that is the case. Best of luck!

When I went to the ER on the 24th the dr looked over my ultrasound from th 21st and said there were no signs of an eptopic pregnancy, so fingers crossed, although this has been a very crampy pregnancy so far, much more then both my boys
