Visible movement near my rib cage!?

posted 8th Jan
Hey ladies,

So I'm 17 weeks pregnant and all morning on and off I've been feeling this thumping that reminds me of a muscle spasm just below my left rib cage. It started up again just now and when I lifted up my shirt to take a look you could actually SEE a part of my torso twitching! (Needless to say you can feel it too.)
I know that this is WAY too far up on my body for it to be the baby, so any thoughts as to what this could be? Some sort of muscle spasm that the baby is causing? Has anyone else had weird movement in places like this before?

Muscle spasm, gas or organs shifting.

I had something similar. It was my heartbeat.

Yeah I was thinking muscle spasm all though it does seem to be in sync with my heart.

Weird   I look like I have a butterfly trapped under my skin haha

I'll just have to add it to the list of strange things I never thought pregnancy would cause.

My daughter caused all sorts of weird muscle spasms. I actually had visible "movements" in my back. Obviously that's wouldnt be baby, it's just muscle spasms. This baby has caused a few of them in my butt, lol, that's certainly not baby.

The ones in my butt are from the sciatic pain. No fun. But the ones in my back from my last pregnancy my husband thought were so interesting. Lol

It sounds like a muscle twitch, I would get them even before I was pregnant. But it does look and feel like a butterfly under your skin. I would get them on my arms and legs.

It is usually caused by stress or lack of a certain vitamin. Pretty harmless though
