Boobie Blues

posted 7th Jan
So I've been ebfing since day one. LO is 9days shy of 4mo. (Already????)
Anywho, last few days I've been getting a pretty sharp pain in my right breast just under my armpit. (its been happening with or without a bra, so that isn't the issue) There is no lump and it goes away in a minute or so. Any ideas?

Sorry, not sure what it is if it isent a clogged duct. But isen't EBF extended breast feeding? I keep seeing people mention it with kids under 1 and I always thought extended meant past one? Just confused lol

Have you tried massaging the area while feeding? Or heat before and after?

I thought EBF was Exclusivly breast feeding...ie no formula. (or not bottles period)
I will have to try the massaging if I remember. It doesn't hurt while bfing, usually about an hour after.

Hopefully it's not the case for you, but sharp random breasts pains for me have always happened shortly before the onset of thrush. Neither of you have had an antibiotic recently or a tummy bug have you?

And EBF is exclusively breastfed. It either means no formula or no bottles at all, depending on who you ask. I always considered my kiddos EBF even if they got bottles while I worked, as long as they got no formula. I don't personally use the term extended breastfeeding as it implies going longer than "normal" and while after a year isn't typical in our culture, it is biologically what is MOST normal & I just call it full term nursing or child led weaning. I don't think there is an abbreviation that relates to extended breastfeeding (could be wrong - maybe XBF?). On other boards I have seen FTN for full term nursing.

Oohhh LOL Maybe people use it differently depending on the context ^.^

Yeh I would try the massage in case it's a small clog starting and heat just because heat feels good on my sore boobies usually so it might help

OOOOh I really hope not!!! I've been lucky so far. Apart from the sometimes constant nursing, we have had a very good esperience. Not issues what so ever. I will keep my eyes peeled for other thrushy symptoms. And no, no antibiotics or bugs.

Meh, if you are nervous eat a little extra yogurt for a few days. If you don't have symptoms, it's easily avoidable.
