Taking after your Mom?
posted 7th Jan
Did you have a similar experience to labor and delivery as your Mom did? I hear a lot of people say if your Mom went fast, you will also go fast. Or if she went slow, you will probably go slow. I am wondering how true it can be if the percentage is higher or lower following in their Mom's footsteps so to speak.
I can only hope I go through it very fast! lol My Mom had me in an hour and my sister in an hour and a half. The doctor also told her she was having contractions but my Mom did not feel a thing. I guess I will have to wait and see.

my mom had me and my brother real fast, I was in labor from a tuesday morning at 11am and delivered wednesday night at 7:21pm. Every labor is different.

Nope not even close.

I think we had similar births because I have her hips. I couldn't fit past her hips, and it ended in c section. Same for me and my son. I labored for 28 hours, and she labored for 8-10.

I wish. My mom's labors were quick. Like, there for less than 4 hours before we were born, quick. Me, my shortest labor was 18 hours. And I had to be induced with all 3

nope, not at all actually. To be fair i am not much like my mom in other ways either. We looks basically nothing alike, different body types ect.

Nope. I was in labor for 9 1/4 hours total, my mo was in labor for 3 days that ended in a c-section. Maybe after my grandma, her first was something like 8 hours and by her 6th and 7th kids she had them in the car halfway to the hospital

My mom was in labor for 8 hours with both my brother and sister, 30 minutes with me. All natural. I was induced with DD, and my labor was only 14 hours.

My mum's first labour went for more than 40 hours, my sister got stuck and they had to pull her out with forceps.
My first labour went for 38 hours, my cervix got stuck at 6cm for 12 hours and I ended up on pitocin, writhing in pain and then needing an emergency c-section due to stress and an additional bone shelf inside my pelvis that I'd asked about since my sister had one and they said it was highly unlikely and that they don't check for it anymore
SO I guess lengthwise it's a bit accurate for me

True for me. My mom's longest labor was 4 hours and my labor with DD was only 5 hours

Similar, we both had fast labor but my recovery was faster than hers. But her babies were bigger than mine. My brother was 10 lbs 6 oz and mom weighed 108 pre-preg.

My mom took 26hrs of labor(from start of timetable contractions until I popped out) and I had 4 days. My grandma only had 4 hrs.

Quoting Holly+Jon=Alice:" Nope. I was in labor for 9 1/4 hours total, my mo was in labor for 3 days that ended in a c-section. ... [snip!] ... my grandma, her first was something like 8 hours and by her 6th and 7th kids she had them in the car halfway to the hospital"
I'm the youngest of 6 and I was the smallest baby. Mom said she didn't think she was gonna make it to the hospital before I was born. They had just got her into the room when she started pushing, lol.

Both my mom and I went past our due dates, both had relatively short labors, and neither of us pushed for long. Oh, and we both didn't use pain meds. That's about all our labors had in common. My mom was two weeks late and induced with pit. They started pit at 8 AM and I was born at 12:45 PM. Fast! She had lots of complictions, though (severe hemorrhage and miconium aspiration). I labored at the hospital for 7 hours. Other than having a fever, I didn't have complications.
