FOUND THE RECIPE!
Cabbage Rolls

head Cabbage
1 lb ground Beef
1/2 lb ground Pork
1 cup cooked Rice
1 Egg
small Onion
Salt
Pepper
16 ounces (or more!) Tomato sauce, chunks, soup, be creative!

Core the cabbage, wash, and place in pot of boiling water to cover. Pluck out leaves from the water as they start to soften and pull away from the head; set aside to drain and cool. When leaves start getting real small, take what's left of the head out of the boiling water, chop, and sautee with the onion.
In bowl, combine cooled onion and cabbage sautee, beef, pork, rice, egg, salt and pepper; set aside.
Cut the center vein out of each cooled cabbage leaf. Plunk some of the meat mixture into each cabbage leaf and roll. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in a pan (I use a dutch oven). When all done, pour your tomato (sauce, soup, chunks, whatever you are using!) over the top. Be sure there is enough moisture....I lots of time will add broth, water, or more tomato to the cabbage rolls, just eyeball it!
Start cabbage rolls on medium-hi, when simmering real good, turn down to medium-low and cover. They will usually be done in about an hour. You'll have to just cut one open and check!

It's my all time favorite. I think my grandma made it too for that matter :-)

That exactly what it is. I eyeball everything. A pound of ground beef (or turkey), cooked rice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, chopped onions, and bread crumbs. Mix all that up. Boil cabbage head until the leaves are supple but not falling apart. Fill with ground beef mix and fold them up. I fold mine into little squares. Cook at 325 for I think 45-60. I check mine frequently. I top mine with tomato sauce.

This is what we do. Then it's all cooked together with tomato soup. Damn that sounds good.

. Thank you! I would need to use turkey, I'm glad ground beef and turkey are so interchangeable.

No. Just the rice before I put it in the ground beef mixture and the cabbage leaves so they are easier to work with. It's kinda like cooking meat balls in cabbage leaves. I also put a little water in the pan before I put it in the oven.

Make like an asian cole slaw. I hate cole slaw because of the mayo dressing but this is vinegar based.

YOU CAN ALSO SHRED SOME CABBAGE AND COOK IN BACON FAT. THAT'S IT.
