I have been putting this off for a while, but I would really like to share my labor story before I start forgetting all the details. Better late than never!
At around 4:00 in the morning on Sunday November 4th, I woke up thinking I had to go pee and discovered that my pants were soaked. I seriously thought I peed the bed, LOL. I woke up my husband and told him I was pretty sure my water broke. Sure enough, it kept gushing out, so I laid a towel on the bed and decided to try to rest some more. That's the main thing my midwife would always tell me. To rest in the early stage of labor because that's the main reason they transport moms to the hospital. They don't get enough rest and get transported due to exhaustion.
My husband calls the emergency line for our birth center and tells them my water broke 2 1/2 hours prior and my contractions are starting to pick up. I labored mostly at home and tried to lay down most of the morning. I made sure to eat quite a bit that morning and I'm so glad I did because later on, I wasn't interested in food whatsoever. At around 12:30 that afternoon, we made our way down to the birth center because my midwife wanted to monitor Lilly, take my blood pressure, and to see how much I was progressing. I was about 4 cm dilated and my contractions weren't very consistent so she sent me on a walk for an hour. We went down to the beach and I walked around as much as I could. It was SO crowded there and I'm sure everyone was staring at me thinking I was crazy, lol. (see picture below) On our walk back to the car, I just knew that my walking did the trick. I was in a lot of pain...
When we made it back, my labor really started picking up. I got in the shower to clean up a little and relieve some of the pain and that helped A LOT. I also used the birthing ball as much as possible for pain relief. Then all of a sudden, I started to feel really sick. I ended up puking all over the place. It was so embarrassing, but my team of midwives were all like "that's totally normal and it's a huge sign you're in your transition period" and omgggggg, they were SO right. I went into full blown labor after that point. It was super intense. I actually spent a lot of time on the toilet. For some reason, that was the only comfortable place to sit at that point in time. They started to get my tub ready. I hopped in the shower again because my contractions were killing me. While my tub was still filling up, I couldn't sit anymore so I went back into the room to try to find a different position to sit/lay in and nothing felt good. I actually started to get that "I have to poop feeling" and my husband ran to the bathroom to put his bathing suit on. After that, it all happened so fast. I got into the tub and they kept coming in from the kitchen with more pots of hot water. I was SO glad they kept doing that because it felt like the water was getting cold really fast. I wasn't really sure at that point if she was coming or not, but all of a sudden, I just felt her descend really fast. I yelled out "OMG, I CAN FEEL HER!" and my husband quickly jumped in and caught her and placed her right on my chest. It was seriously amazing.
After a couple minutes of bonding, they helped me out of the tub and put me on the bed. My placenta took a while to come out...they actually had to assist it. It was kinda gross. I ended up getting a very very small tear, but it was not major enough to get stitches for. Lilly was interested in nursing right off the bat. So far, so good too! I'm really glad about that.
It was seriously the most amazing experience ever. I am so glad I planned it out this way. My labor from start to finish was about 12 1/2 hours long.
We also delayed the clamping of the cord and we did not bathe her either.
Lilly Marie was born at 4:26 PM. 8 pounds 2 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.
Picture my hubby took of me laboring on the beach.
Quoting ☮ Phuket:" That is so sweet! I deff teared up! I cant wait to have a birth just like yours! was your first born ... [snip!] ... was your first born natural too but out of water? im curious how different it feels to actual push the baby out IN water."
It was a huge difference for me! It was a lot more soothing being in the water while pushing the baby out!
I forgot to add...my first birth was in the hospital.
Quoting Piecey.:" Congrats! I can't watch the video (something about the music and Germany --lame) but I am sure it's beautiful! Water births are amazing."

i will still be delivering in a hosptial but they have a natural laboring floor with bithing tubs and big queen sized beds.. gives you that home/birthcenter feel.
my last was hopsital too but they were all really cool about letting me birth the way i wanted
no. it wont even load. just displays a GEMA hasn't granted rights blah blah screen. I am going to come back and watch it later when I connect to my VPN since it gives me a us IP. i'd do it now but im in the middle of something and cant interrupt my connection.
