Bottle Feeding mothers

posted 7th Jan
So my baby boy is 11 months old (his birthday is only 20 days away!!!) and he has two-three 8 ounce bottles a day. A bottle before bed, a bottle in the morning, and a bottle if we go out. He also gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a few snacks. Anyways, I'm curious as to how old your LO was when you stopped bottles. Also how did you do it?

we switched to sippy cups at 9 months with my DD, still formula. then started switching it to milk at 11 months.

some people will use the rubbery nuby nipple cups, because it is easier on the babies.. but I found that in the end it was harder to break them from those kind. the sippy cups with the hard lips are what we used. and then switched to the straw sippy cups (she could drink out of a regular straw before she could use a sippy cup)

I'm just nervous that I'm not going to give him the nutrients he needs without the bottles.

I still let my son have milk maybe once or twice a day in a sippy. The definite one is at lunch and then later at night if we're having trouble calming him, we make a little warm milk to make him slow down

Did you mean quitting formula or just the bottle? Just put the formula in the sippy cup. If you meant quitting formula around 1 you can transition to milk. If you dont do cows milk just make sure he is eating lots of good fats. Nuts, fish, avocado, ect

A week ago my mom tried giving my son milk and he would fill his mouth with it and just spit it out.

just take them away and never give them back. Throw them in the trash so you won't be tempted to give in. My two oldest were so easy. They loved to drink out of sippies and straws so when they turned 1 I never gave the bottle back. They never missed it. I believe I could have taken them sooner if I had tried. My other 2 are 9 months and I am trying to get them use to sippies so the transition in April (when they turn 1) will be easy. To get them off of the formula I mixed a sippy with 75% formula to 25% milk, then 50% of each, then 25% formula to 75% milk, then straight milk. I did each step for about 4-5 days.

slowly mix them. start off with a cup of mainly formula, and add some milk. next time add more milk, less formula.
