Finding out the sex?

I have an appointment on Thursday and I'll be 17 weeks 5 days. I was wondering if that's too soon for them to be able to determine boy or girl?

Usually the sex scan is around 20 weeks, but I have heard it's possible at 17.

I saw the baby's gender at 16 wks confirmed at 20 wks.

They can find it with some degree of accuracy before then but a lot of things can impact your chances. They got mine wrong at 22 weeks because he was sitting on an odd angle, a friend couldn't find out until 2 weeks later because her fluid wasn't clear enough as she wasn't a water drinker.

My doctor does them at 18 weeks at the earliest but says it's possible to tell at 16 weeks. He doesn't schedule them that early because most of the time it's hard to determine.

Thanks everyone! They're not doing it as a gender scan, my doctors office does ultrasounds every visit so I was curious if we'd get any idea at this appointment.

Unless they don't want to tell you, you should be able to tell if its boy or girl. When I had an ultrasound at 15 weeks, it was quite obvious it was boy right away. It was then confirmed at 20 weeks. Good luck to you!

I found out I was pregnant and ha my first ultrasound at 14 weeks. They told me that day he was a boy. And you could tell very much. It was confirmed at 21 weeks.

I found out at 17 weeks 5 days

With both my boys I found out at 14 wks, but they both had their legs wide open and were sitting perfectly. This time around I'm 26 wks and my doctor still isn't 100 percent sure because the baby is sitting weird and the umbilical cord is resting down there and its legs are usually crossed. This one doesn't want us to know lol. It all depends on the way the babys positioned and its a lot easier to tell with boys then girls.

We found out when I was 16 weeks and 3 days. We went to an outside ultrasound place because my doc wanted to wait until I was 19 weeks. I will be 19 weeks and 2 days at my next doctors appointment where they do the anatomical ultrasound to check organs and everything where sex will be confirmed. But the ultrasound we had at 16 weeks and a few days clearly showed a baby girl. As my husband's friend put it, it showed a hamburger and not a turtle. LOL!

That's what happened with mine. With my youngest son as soon as they put the doppler on my belly the shot was of his wiener lol.
