I think dd would get sick if she ate meat. She had never had even a taste.

Ex DH eats meat, but she and I follow a religious Jain diet (hers is a little less strict). We are a little stricter than vegan, but I can't even cook meat for human consumption. The animals get meat, but that is allowed in the religious laws because it is the circle of life and they require meat. We keep it stored away from food I consume and make sure it was raised and killed per Hindu law.

Is Jainism and Hinduism the same thing? Like Jainism is just a section of Hinduism, I thought they were 2 different religions?

It's like christianity, judaism, and Islam. Hinduism and Jainism started at the same point thousands of years ago and follow a lot of the same rules and beliefs. I follow ahimsa, harm to none, and the Jain diet meets the rules for it, but I'm orthodox Hindu. It would be like a Christian going kosher.

I'd miss burgers too much.
I could very easily switch to eating veg most of the week. BUT, i make AWESOME steak on "steakhouse night." Hmmm.... maybe Friday we shall have another steakhouse night! Mmmmm

Oh, this made me laugh so hard! The fish named Sushi. Dang, I like that kid.

If she was old enough, then yes. (I consider old enough to be about 6) If my 6 year old came to me and said she didn't want to eat meat, then I would stop making her meat. She'd have to eat other protein sources, though, such as tofu...And if she was willing to do that, then I'd be all for it.

I seriously doubt any kid of mine will become a vegetarian, though. I certainly would not change my eating habits, even if I was letting her change hers.

What is a world without bacon? A sad place, indeed.
