I can do a fish alone, but that's about it. I've seen the rest done. I can't say I know how to do it though & I'd be really afraid I'd nick the stomach or intestines & ruin it.

My son is 6 and if he said that honestly I would try and talk him out of it. We are big meat eaters and I couldn't imagine cooking vegeterian only meals all the time but even after we had a chat he was still set on it then I would just have to adapt. I wouldn't want to make him do something he was so against, I would need to really try and find out what was a healthy way to do it though because I went to College with a girl who was veggie and her diet was atrocious! She just ate cheese sandwiches, cheese pizza, cheesey pasta, cheese on toast.... Every day it was something plain with cheese

I would let my kids be vegetarian if they wanted to. I was a vegetarian for almost 4 years myself.

That's so gross! My friend used to be vegetarian and she would eat junk all the time! Always potato chips and cookies and little debbies! She pretty much took it as an excuse to eat whatever she wanted except meat lol

As much as I really dont want to be a short order cook, I would respect and accomodate them.

My dd is already a vegetarian. She just refuses all meat, won't try any meat that is put in front of her. She might outgrow it though eventually, she's just turning 5.
But in the situation you describe of course I would respect her wishes and let her be a vegetarian.

lol my kids love meat and we often talk about the killing of animals why we are eating them at the table......lol my kids are facinated with it.

Anyways. If they choose not to sure why not. But they would be pretty hungry just off of veggies, but dd 10 wont eat fruit or veggies, if it was my 4 yr old sure she will eat anything.

I wouldn't mind. SO is a huge meat eater, but because I am the one who cooks the meals, we only have meat once a day... So I could easily make a spare meal for my son/daughter.

My son's hero in life is the T-Rex so he always tells me how he hunted for, killed, and ate the parasauralophus (chicken) we're eating for dinner.

Ham is edmontosaurus
Pork is brachiosaurus
Beef is triceratops

Kid is a strange guy for sure!

Quoting FroggysMommy:" Why would she get sick to cook meat?"

It's common (but it doesn't happen to everyone) for vegs to get sick over the smell of meat. I was a veg for 2 years, and when I started eating meat again I felt like I was going to die. lol

lol, ya mine are too.

It started with my oldest telling my now 4 yr old that our chicken used to be a real chicken, and she got curious and started asking about other animals that we eat. It never occured to me before that she didnt realize this. lol

So now when we eat meat she always asks who killed it and what kind of method was used and son. It helps her eat her food. lol

I know a vegetarian who if she accidentally get meat it literally makes her physically Ill cause her body just can't process it right anymore.

How long as she not eaten meat for? Curious, my friends hubby just started eating meat again after more then 10 yrs and his body handled it like he had been eating all these years. lol

Its been 2 months now and he has gained 14lbs since eating meat again.

Quoting The Doctor:" I would support it (depending on age and the child) but only if the child was still healthy. And I'd ... [snip!] ... cooking, but sometimes we have meals without meat, anyway. I'd see if they'd still be willing to eat fish or something, too."

When Zoe wanted to be a vegetarian, I made her research it and write me a paper on what she would be eating and protein alternatives. Once I was satisfied that she understood, I let her become a vegetarian. lol
