Do you have rules in your home?

posted 7th Jan
If so, what are they? What are some good rules to have for a 3 and 2 year old? I haven't really "set" any rules in my house and I think now is a good time to start. So ideas?!

1) Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
2) Clean up what you mess up.
3) Keep food and drink in the kitchen.
4) No screaming.
5) No bad words.

How did you enforce that rule? Constantly making them go back to the kitchen?

My rules for my two year old:
No climbing on the table
No getting under the kitchen sink
No dumping out the cat food/water

That is about it. For now at least

My son is 3 and I have a lot

For example..

No dumping out toy bins and just scattering dozens of toys all across the floor. Take out a couple and actually play with them, not just destroy the playroom.

Stay seated and eat dinner and no getting up until he's asked.

Even when eating and drinking? Or just when they're not eating and drinking?

I have a three year old.

No running, please and thank you, get clothes ready for bed before shower, rubbish in the bin, plates in the sink, ask may i please be excused before leaving the table, wash herself in the shower, water the flowers, keep her room tidy

It doesn't always happen but usually she does all of the above every day

I have a 25 month old... food and drinks stay in the kitchen (other than water with a lid), no jumping in the tub, if someone is cooking, we play away from the kitchen, no bathroom without an adult, no outside without an adult, please/thank you/excuse me are required, we ask in a nice voice (no screaming when we want something), no hitting or kicking, no laundry/dishes without an adult... that's all I can think of. He mostly sticks to the rules, but he's only 2 so, ya know...

Our carpet is RUINED!!!!!!!! I don't even know if I'm going to be able to clean it. It's probably going to have to be replaced. I'll be enforcing that rule now! If you look at my OP you can see I'm making a list.

I have the same rule and I ask them to take it back the first time and if it comes out again I take the cup back to the kitchen and say "if you want to drink this, then drink it in here. If not I will put it away for later."
