How much milk

posted 7th Jan
How much milk does your 1 yr old drink? I didn't think we were giving DS that much. Of course we are giving him an appropriate amount but SO just went to the store for our 5th gallon this week. Seems like a little much to me.

Our 20 month old goes through a gallon a week on his own. We use a different milk for cooking and drinking ourselves because I don't like whole milk. 24 ounces a day is what his pedi says he needs. We've been told we need to limit him to no more than that because he'd rather drink milk all day than eat anything.

I was watching nanny 911, cause I love her. And this family fed their kids milk all the time (2 yr old triplets) nanny had them give them no more then 16 ounces a day as too much milk can be dangerous for your digestive tract (constipates) and other things that I cant remember.

oh yeah, and they filled up on milk taking away from their food diet.

He gets a sippy of milk when he eats breakfast lunch and dinner and he gets a bottle to go to sleep which I know is bad but we are working on it lol.

He can eat like a 10 yr old so it hasn't effected his food intake at all. Maybe SO is drinking or using more of it than I think. I hardly ever drink milk but it has to be going some where lol. And I seriously doubt DS is able to drink that much and still eat the way he does.

A sippy is probably about 5 oz, so with him getting one at each meal thats about 15 and then the bottle at night time you would have to add.

With night time bottles, try water instead, and/or reduce the amount and continually reduce it so you break the habit.
