breastfeeding milk let down problems/possibly getting sick

i have a 1 month old that im breastfeeding on demand, and i was overflowing with milk for a while but now sometimes its like my milk isnt coming in fast enough when my son wants to eat, and i dont know what to do about it except let him try and see what he can get when im totally drained of milk. and when that happens i dont feel my milk come in for hours and hours, unless he finally goes to sleep for a while and i happen to get some food in me then later ill feel milk come in. but still lately it just doesnt feel like that much is coming in and my son seems to always be hungry. so ive been reading breastfeeding books and it says stress can inhibit milk let down, and yeah-ive been stressed it seems all the time, between no sleep (4-6 hours a day in increments-if im lucky) boyfriend is of no help, food stamps havent turned on yet and all the nutritious stuff in the kitchen is gone, its just a cluster of smurf for me while everyone else can relax im sitting there trying to do the best i can for my baby all stressed out. whenever i come into the room or whenever he's awake and im near him, he does those hungry sounds and moves around like he's hungry. but i dont think im producing enough milk for him so round and round we go.

on top of that, with the stress possibly being why, i am aching all over. it feels like im about to come down with a fever. i have one bottle of milk stored in the freezer and i dont know what to do..im all out of finding my own answers so ive come here. there is random formula in boxes but i dont want to even think about giving it to him, but im so worried i may have to if this really is a fever. so what shoud i do? have you ever had these milk problems? and what do you do when youre breastfeeding then get sick??

As long as he has plenty of wet diapers, he's getting enough.  

Usually around a month is when your body starts to adjust to what the baby needs.

It's probably just your milk regulating, it's normal. It's also normal for babies to nurse a lot at that age. We have a breast feeding support thread, I can link you if you want.

Oh yeah - and continue to nurse even if you're not feeling well, your body is producing antibodies and they'll be passed on to your baby via breastmilk!

he does have plenty of wet diapers, but he also wants to eat literally every 30 minutes to an hour when he's awake and my boobs are totally limp lol so i just assume he's hungrier than he would be if he'd had plenty of milk like i used to produce. but thats good reassurance. i used to be able to leak from one side HALF a bottle, now its just drops.

sounds right. im just freaking out on top of everything else, you know-like im the first new mom in the world lol thats what it feels like sometimes! its all new. thanks

What you're describing sounds completely normal. Babies usually grow thru a growth spurt around a month old, so they want to nurse constantly. And a lot of times they just want to nurse for comfort.

The first 4-6 weeks of breastfeeding is the hardest, but it does get easier!
