Quoting Household 6:" Did you have a list to take to the hospital/birthing center/your refrigerator with you? Did you just ... [snip!] ... be decided by the first name that's chosen and what sounds the best, so at the very least we won't have to fight about that."
When I went to the hospital, I had already decided that she would be a Hailey Colton...or I thought I had. Hailey was the name that my husband had picked out, and it had kind of stuck throughout my pregnancy.
So I wasn't walking in with a list. I had planned on naming her Hailey. Once she was born, though, I looked at her, and it was just like, "Uh, oh, she is so not a Hailey."
And for some reason, the name Abigail came to mind. I had known the meaning from a friend of mine who had suggested it (We were pregnant at the same time and had brainstormed names together once) The meaning of Abigail is "My father's joy" or "My father rejoices", and it just suit her. I called her Abby, and it just fit. I ended up naming her Abigail Hailey Colton, and it absolutely suits her.
So I would take the list with you. I wouldn't bring a big list, maybe 4 names tops. It's a good idea in case the name you pick doesn't end up suiting her.
