crafty sewing mommies!

I recently got an itch to start sewing...I want to make clothes for my dd. Anyone have any advice on what kind of sewing machine is best for that sort of thing?

I always used an older machine for all my sewing projects. It might be just because that's what I started on but to me the older ones are much simpler and way easier to set up, thread ect.

What brand of machine do u use?

I have an old singer, really for someone just starting out just get something simple. If you can get your hands on a old one even better, the newer ones are so much lighter, drives me nuts.
