I know people make mistakes, it's just sad. It's sad to read ya know? I'm not judging op on what she did and would t judge her period, I don't know her.

I would tel the truth.
I don't teach my kids that people in jail are necessarily "bad" people. It would be hard to tell my kids if I was going to jail since I know how society feels about it, but definitely tell the truth..

mymy daughter's birth father was in jail and prison the worst thing we tried was explaining it was time out... she was scared to death anytime she would get in trouble and thought she would go to time out thinking I wouldn't see her

she's 5 now and she knows time out and jail are different. I had to tell her at 3.5 it was jail and not time out because of the fear of time outs.. she understands he did things he wasn't suppose to and is paying the consequences. she's understand since four.. she still says he's in for taking medicine that was bad for him without a Dr playing it and taking things from people's houses an being mean to people... ( meth and heroin possession, burglary, terroristic threats, parole violation) but he also never was really in her life either
