TTC with Metformin???

posted 7th Jan
Has any one taken Metformin to regulate AF? I have been taking it for almost 4 months now and I've been regular.... until now. I was having about an average 28 day cycle. Right now I'm on CD 33 and no signs at all of AF. This was our first good month TTC and I've been testing almost everyday for the past week, with nothing but a BFN. What gives? Is the Metformin still working?

I usually get horrible breast tenderness and nipple soreness right before AF and this month NOTHING! What is going on?

I took Metformin and was always regular as long as I was taking it. Suppose to be still but haven't since I lost my last pregnancy.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you take it to regulate as well? I am just so confused, I take 1500mg daily and it has been working great, but I am not having any symptoms of AF or pregnancy for that matter. Should I call my doctor?

Yeah I had to take it to regulate af. If I wasn't taking Metformin I wouldn't have af for several months at a time. Some of my cycles were a little longer than others sometimes so it's all up to you if you think you should ask your Dr.

In 2008, I took Metformin for regulating AF and it worked like a charm! I was going 60+ days without AF and took provera to get AF then was on Metformin. After 3 months, we TTC and did on the one and only try. I was on Metformin for about 12 into pregnancy too. After my son my AF was regular 32-35 cycle days after I stopped breastfeeding him.

How long have you been taking Metformin? I also did BBT charting before TTC to pinpoint ovulation. I was ovulating on CD20 consistently. Good luck!!

I started taking the Metformin in Sept '12. I was having cycles about every 60 - 90 days before that. I started af about a month later in Oct and it was a 29 day cycle. I then started in Nov and that was a 27 day cycle. I started again early Dec and I haven't started again... yet. My cycle in Oct I O'd around cd 15, and in Nov around cd 13. My opk's were all over the place this past month. I would have a positive for a few days then it would go negative. And then it would start up again... but the darkest of them all was on cd 17/18. So I assumed I O'd on Christmas Eve on cd 19.

I am on cd 33 now and I am so confused. I have no BIG signs of af or pregnancy. I have just sort of panicked because I want to stay regular since this was our first cycle ttc. My hpt have all been negative too.

When your cycles fluctuated, how were they?

All my cycles are between 32-36 days...that'd regular for me since I was used to long ones until I went on Metformin. I don't need it anymore. I know af comes about 13-14 days after ewcm. So I ovualte between cd17-20. I only had 3 cycles before getting pregnant so Im not sure if it would have become irregular after awhile. Keep testing maybe you ovulated later than cd19. Good luck!
