Eww yes I hate that feeling. Is the baby waking up startled? Kind of need more info like what exactly is he doing?

Like the baby gets scared and jumps a big. Arms flying up... Yeah thats normal. My DS did it.

He does it when hes in deep sleep... he never opens his eues he just cryes....

dexter did it ALOT in his first 2 months. still does it maybe once or twice a day.

Funny, the people who understood you are all from the UK  
and I understood what you meant when you said shocking himself awake.
Max still does this sometimes and he is 14 months, i'll hear him wake suddenly and bang his head off the cot as he is so close to the sides, only now he can get himself back to sleep x
