bfing moms, solids/sippy cup??

So DD had her 6mth appt today. I was reading over the paper they give you and it said to start feeding 3 meals a day? and to start to introduce a sippy cup? It said to start the sippy cup so the baby is off the bottle by 15mths. I am planning on bfing until DD doesnt want to. I dont want to rush the process. So would introducing a sippy cup have her wean sooner???? She does take a bottle of pumped milk when I work, so she does do a bottle when I am not home. And 3 meals a day seems like a lot to me. I understand every baby is different and these are just guidelines and dont need to be followed to a T. I dont wanna do anything that would make her self wean before a yr. I would like her to decide.

Meh - I tried introducing a sippy to my 1st & he never liked it (we started at 5 mos) and never bothered with #2. i went straight to open cups. I BFd #1 until past age 3 & my younger one is nearing 3 & still nursing. I introduced solids at 6 mos but I doubt they did 3 meals a day until closer to a year. They just weren't terribly interested. I offered food every time we ate, they seldom showed interest.

My LO started solids at 8 1/2 months, but didn't really start eating until closer to 10 months... she got her first sippy cup at 11 months... I wonder what people did before pureed food and plastic cups with lids were invented? probably just nursed until baby was ready for solids ;)

Around 6 months I doubt I was feeding the boys 3 meals a day. It was probably closer to 2. By 'meals' I mean a small amount of baby food or some sort of cereal puff or yogurt drops. As far as sippy cups goes, it depends on the baby. With my middle baby, he figured out the whole sippy cup thing real early. I want to say around 6 months. My youngest refused to drink anything but boob juice until he was about a year. We went to cups with straws (I hold them while he drinks) because I hate cleaning all of those millions of pieces that go to the sippy cup. Plus you can never get those things clean enough. It drives me crazy. lol
