Tubal ligation

For those moms who've had a tubal ligation, how old were you when you had it done and after how many children? I'm considering this option in the near future (am currently on the pill), but on the other hand wish to wait until I'm 35(which isn't far from now!).

I'm 35 and have three kids and I plan to get it done within the next year.

My sil had hers done at 21 after 3 kids.

25 after 4 kids.

I'm 35 and on my 4th child. Im having her next month and have signed the papers. When you have to ask the question you might not be ready yet. I think when you have had enough you know.

I was 27 almost 28 with 3 kids

Surgeries terrify me, so I'm planning on getting the Essure instead and hopefully sooner rather than later. Hoping to find a doctor who will take me before I'm 25 cos I don't want to wait that long. I'm 20 with one child and ready for it now, just gotta wait a bit.

Thanks for the replies ladies! I've heard a lot of negative talk about staying on the pill after 35, I'm wary of the IUD so tubal ligation is definitely on the horizon. After having two kids plus the high cost of living I don't see myself expanding my family (at least biologically).
