I know I feel less crazy now! Lol. I feel like some people go way to far with medicine and stuff. Just let their immune systems build up! I have always done this and I hardly EVER get sick. Same with my now 4 year old..he hardly gets sick anymore. My 7 month old just had the flu for 4-5 days, and my oldest got sick throughout one night..the next morning was perfectly fine. Neither of them had fevers lol. And I didn't get the flu.

I personally wouldn't. Supposedly a lot of people who have gotten the flu shots have gotten this flu still.

we don't do flu shots here. it's the flu, not Ebola or anything. my kids bounce back so quick when they're sick. I know it's from letting them be exposed and not relying on meds. the only time I'll give Tylenol is if their fever is dehydrating them. if they're drinking fluids, theres no reason to break the fever.

It hasn't been this bad around here in a long time. I get that some parents have a different mind set. I use to not really put much thought into it either & my kids were getting sick every other week it seemed like. I hate that his party was cancelled but its not like we aren't celebrating.

Yeah we definitely don't get the flu shot lol. But yeah I agree!

I probably wouldn't cancel a birthday party because of potential cooties, but that's just me. My mom is a bit of a germ-a-phobe and she use to chase us around the house with a can of lysol when we were kids. She's also religious about the hand sanitzer gel. What I've noticed is that she always gets sick even with the lysol and the hand sanitizer gel and she gets sick bad. I suspect that she's killing off the good germs and leaving herself wide open to the bad stuff, but I don't have proof.

My boys are 1,2.5, and 4. We got sick, but we also got better. Getting sick wouldn't make me stay in the house all winter. Pregnant or not.

Kids get sick dude! My older two are in school & bring home EVERYTHING. We've had a cold running back and forth between myself, husband, 5, 3 year old and our 5 month old for like 2 months now. And the baby is the only one sick now - it happens. You can't keep them in a bubble forever. Now, if you would have asked me 5 years ago with my first - I would have said No, you aren't overreacting! But, after having seen it all, it doesn't really phase me.

So you would put your kids in a small community center where you knew for a fact that 80% of those people either had, has very recently had, or has been directly exposed to the flu and a few of them had strep. I'm sorry but i see that as careless. Not saying you are but i will feel awful if i had that party knowing what i knew and my kids got the flu

Every year the flu is different. You don't build a immunity to something that's constantly evolving.

I feel the same. If it wasn't so bad around here i wouldn't be so protective but my doctor has lost perfectly healthy pregnant patients because its so bad.

So then don't invite the people that are sick? When we have parties & we usually host Christmas Eve every year and my biggest thing is if your CURRENTLY sick, don't come, please! Everyone seems to understand and listen.
