okay... day 2 using my friends Canon Rebel Xsi

Today I used only manual settings....

Heres day one http://forum.baby-gaga.com/about2420672.html Alot of the criticism was that they look like regular point and shoot pictures.

Don't be too harsh, its only my second day!

Okay so there they are... if these all suck too then I quit this camera!

The lighting is harsh in most. They do look like snapshots. But, you have to give yourself longer then 2 days to learn.

The camera isn't what takes the amazing pictures.. it's the skill and knowledge of the person behind the camera.

It takes practice. My cousin takes amazing pictures, but she has been in the field for what seems like forever.

1)it's not the camera, it's the photographer.
2)are you trying to get into photography?
3)if so, you should look up what ISO, shutter speed and all that fun stuff is and how to use it to your advantage.
4)they still look like point and shoot pictures but then again this is only day 2..take some time to learn about it first.

and you don't need a D5100 you can get a lower grade camera and still take awesome pictures...I have a D40 and I've used it since I've used it for about 6 years since day 1 I've been able to take nice quality pictures with it....

EDIT!!
I was actually considering a t2i... I'm still on the fence about what I want to get.

It's about having an eye for composition. These shots are snapshots taken with a camera capable of taking clear photos.

There's a lot of background noise and harsh light and deep shadows and odd angles and no focal point that draws the eye (different from just what the cam is focused on).

They look better than my point and shoot, but when I think of better than a point and shoot I think of prof pictures, and you just need practice!

However ypute going to get a lot of bitchy "photographer" comments.. cause they hate people who aren't them. Not all, but a lot. Lol.

Take your LO outside and put the cam in Av mode with a low ISO and f/ stop.
Focus on the eye closest to you.

I believe thats the camera my sister has and she has a nice eye for photography..I'd say get the canon because I have always thought canon dslr's were more of a beginner camera(I don't know why)...but I really suggest you read up on it and things you'll need to know it order to get settings you like to get better quality pictures.

LOL I thought they looked a thousand times better then my point and shoot (canon power shot) and I wasn't hoping to look like the joe the pro photographer on my second day, nor did I want the pictures to look they they were taken in a studio or posed. I just was hoping weren't out of focus and that some had nice "bokeh" or whatever its called in the background. I think they def look nice for my first time holding a DSLR, I know I need to learn the camera but I didn't think my first shot was that bad...atleast its not blurry, I'm happy about that! And I managed to take a clear picture of my cats which I can NEVER get with my point and shoot.
