A baby?

posted 7th Jan
I'm 35 weeks today, and would just like someone to help me out with what too expect for the first month of having a baby. I really don't know what to expect!

eat, poop/pee, sleep, cry (not specifically in that order) lol

No sleep. Lots of diapers, cuteness, spit up, being peed on, being pooped on, loveable babyness, hungriness and crying.

First thing to expect is little to no sleep on the best of nights...expect your relatives to go insane. Expect your friends to go insane. Expect a lot of casseroles and visitors. Expect to get really, really annoyed with people always wanting to hold your little one.

Expect to feel like you got pounded open with a jackhammer for awhile...I've heard that people feel no sex drive with their partners. Can't speak to that one. Expect for your girls to get gnawed on a bit, although it doesn't hurt with no teeth.

Expect for your whole world to change, and to find that you have a whole new purpose beyond anything you can ever imagine. Good luck Mama! It is tough, but so worth it.

Oh, and expect to become an expert diaper changer. Seriously, you'll get really good at it.

Lol, nice! I was a freaked out about labor, but pretty calm during it.

No, it is not scary. It hasn't been for me, at least. You will worry. The first night I had her home, I put her down and tried to sleep, but ended up getting up every 10 minutes to make sure she was still breathing, and ok.

So you will worry, and fuss, but it will be so worth it. And it won't be scary. Don't freak yourself out about it, and never read labor horror stories. It'll freak the daylights out of you.

I was laughing and making jokes, SO was like what do I do?!   I was so surprised when he actually got involved with the labor and pulled him out
lol I still do the breathing checks. He's almost 2 weeks already
And yes, yes it will.

That's awesome! And it's cool that he was involved...

Ugh, Abby's over a month now! A month and 5 days...She is growing up way, way too fast for me. It's scary, really.

I did breathing checks for the first three weeks...and then realized that she was not going to stop breathing on me, so started getting up hourly for feedings.   She's a little fusser...but I love her to bits!

Just out of curiousity, is your family still going nuts over him?

lol Yeah but it was so unexpected. Before I went into labor he was so appalled by it. And when Holden was crowning SO said Whoa! And that's not pubic hair!
lol He fusses a lot too. Of course we love our munchkins.
lol Yes. They're still giddy and such.

That made me lol so hard...Wow, just what you want to hear during labor, right?

My family, both sides actually, are still going nuts. I thought they might settle down after a couple weeks, but they're just as crazy as ever. At least it's not just my family, though.

lol I punched him. And all the nurses laughed. lol The doctors at my hospital all know who he is because when they were checking the baby, the baby cried and he got all mad and kept asking them what are you doing with my baby?!

lol Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Everyone's still excited.
