My son is 12yrs old and has Aspergers/ADHD/and mood disorder. He has alot of the same issue that you mentioned. (sound, texture, socail, and ocd symptoms) . He is also very smart (although he has a reading disability). Math and science are his ''specailties'' and he is very hands on w/woodwork and such but will take the extra time to saw and sand things by hand to avoidle the noise of most power tools.
With therapy and medication he has overcome much of his socail anxiety and can handle changes to his routine w/minimal complaint or outbursts.

I really, really hope he can get some help.

My mother just texted me and said she set up a meeting with his school counselor to see if she can help with getting an evaluation and such.

the school system may not be the most helpful in these situations , when the child excels academically. I had to have my children tested at a childrens hospital because the county school system said testing wasnt warranted because of my childrens grades. My daughter has non-verbal learning disorder which is closely linked to aspergers and often mistaken for it. Because neither of their disorders were causing them to fail classes the school wasnt resposible for testing. I had to get a referral for a neuro/psycological eval from their dr to have them tested.

I'll keep that in mind if they end up saying anything like that. I feel like my mom will just go with whatever they say
