Washing baby's clothes...

posted 7th Jan
My son and I both have sensitive skin, so we use Purex Natural Elements...it's made with plant based ingredients. It's hypoallergenic and dye free, and lightly scented.

My son had skin issues when I used Dreft, so I know that's out. I was going to use Purex Baby, but it has all of the same ingredients as the Purex Natural Elements..just not plant based.

Do you think it would be okay to use half the amount of the Purex that we use for the baby's clothes and do a double rinse?

Does the baby's skin react when you've been holding him? If not then just wash his stuff with yours.

Eta I just realized you meant the baby you're pregnant with, since the stuff you use is hypoallergenic you should be ok to wash everything with it.

I just don't want to use Dreft. My son broke out all over and it took months for his skin to clear up. As for me..Purex and All are the only two detergents that don't break my skin out. I get a rash if I touch something that's been washed in anything other than those.

I would just use whatever you use on the babys clothes then

Yea it should be fine. We used dreft w our 1st and then switched to All free n clear (I'm allergic to perfume n dye laundry detergent). Dd2 had a reaction the first day to the clothes at the hospital. Dr said it was bc she wasn't used to all the different fabrics and stuff yet. Sure scared me but it went away by day 3.

I use Purex for all of our clothes. I buy regular for our clothes because I like the smell. I used to buy Purex baby (which smells amazing) but it was so expensive compared to Purex Free and Clear. I just bought a jug of the Natural Elements to try because it has a light scent. I hate the smell (or lack thereof) of Purex Free and Clear.

We've had no problems with Purex at all even for our son and my skin is a little sensitive.

My daughter and I have very sensitive skin and I'm assuming this baby will as well. Dreft did NOT work for us. I'm going to start washing the babies clothes tomorrow and I'll just use whats worked on us which is All. Hopefully it works.

The Purex Natuarl Elements is the best I've used yet! I haven't had a skin rash since we started using it. Until yesterday...my niece thought she was having a girl and she had a boy, so she gave me all her clothes. She washed them in Dreft and now I have rashes on my arms.

I understood what you meant. Sorry if it seemed like I implied something other than that.

I would say to use the purex free. It is unscented, which the scent is usually what the skin reacts to.
