Best BC?

posted 7th Jan
I have been totally off BC for a little over 2 years. I was on the depo for 3+ years and it has smurfed my bones beyond repair. But I loved it. No periods, awesome skin, little to no weight gain. It was awesome

I tried the pill but it landed me in the ER with docs thinking I had a stroke. I presented with slurred speech, one sided paralysis, and a headache that was blinding.

It wasn't a stroke, but they did suggest it was related to the pill cause it started the same month I started the pill.

So depo is (probably out), the pill is out, I'm not comfortable with the idea of an IUD. My doctor isn't licensed to do the arm thing (implanon I think it is called), so if I wanted that, I'd have to go through a different doc

What are my options besides condoms?

The patch, which I know very little about. Nuvaring, my sister got pregnant on that. Diaphragm. Permanent methods.

Abstinence?

I don't know that I trust the patch. I hear about it falling off all the time.

I'll look up the nuvaring. Do they even still make diaphragms anymore? I never hear of anyone using them

and after a two year dry spell, I'm finally getting laid so abstinence is out

The patch releases around 60% more estrogen into your body than the pill does. If you had issues with the pill, I don't suggest the patch.

You're kind of stuck. I'd just go find someone who insert Implanon.

My obgyn works in a practice and I know at least one other doc there does the implanon.

my patch neevverr fell off. Not even peeled. It got sticky around and attracted a little lint but that's it. I liked implanon but I always felt pregnant on it and it also stopped my period so I was always paranoid.

Anytime I look up birth control info, the diaphragm is always thrown out there, so assume someone is still using them. Lol

Yay for getting laid!

I did too, definitely, but not when I had sore boobs all the time! I would look into it then. I never turned out pregnant while on it so I'm sure it's fine lol

smurf

after reding a few thing, it looks like I can't use most birth controls becasue of a psych med I am on. It lowers the birth controls effectiveness

I used to be on nuvaring. I loved it. You don't have to have periods if you don't want to and it clears up your skin.
