Oh I know you dont hun, and he is going to have to deal with that tough love its for his own benefit there is no reasoning with a person who has issues and thinks themselves right, its like fighting a losing battle which is why doing something drastic like cutting him off is the only way to make him understand that his actions are not right and have consequences. And trust me that hard hedadeness runs in my fam too lol I'm half Cherokee and half Irish so you can imagine and not to mention my dad was a sergeant in the Air Force lol so its not only in my blood its ingrained in how I was raised lol, but just because I'm hard headed doesn't mean I cant admit I'm wrong so whats his excuse? yes hun its gonna take your mom to do it herself no one else can do it but her, and it does sadly put alot of pressure on her and they one thing you can do is be there for her for support and advice she will need it. lol it is a mix and so is yours I can say I haven't heard Mexican and Irish before lol. my hubby is Greek and Noreweigen lol. Im so proud of my dad the things he has done is amazing to say the least I always looked up to him and wanted to go into the Air Force but they wouldn't take me on account of my asthma but its ok I don't think I could leave my kids lol. your very welcome hun tell your mom from me to hang in there and be strong and to never give in and you do the same sweetie.  

Wow - setting boundaries w/ adult kids is super hard....but I'm sure it's especially hard for your mom since she struggles with guilty feelings about the past. I hope she and your step-dad will get some help in how to handle this - not easy at all -but seems like they may need to set some boundaries (and stick to them) if they want to get out of this vicious cycle.
