Before you TTC

Did/do you and your SO have "requirements" for your life before beginning to TTC? Do you have a list of things that you want (career-wise, financially, emotionally) to have accomplished before TTC? I've heard some people say that they don't want to try until they own a home, make at least $60,000 a year, have been married for at least one year, etc.

Do you have any requirements?

Yep. We wanted to financially stable enough to afford another child. Our relationship stable enough to handle the stress and emotions of another child. We both had to want the baby.

DD was a surprise. Next time we would like to own a home. We made an offer on a house today. So maybe by tomorrow we can set a timetable for ttc

Finished my M.A.
Buy a house
Have an emergency fund that would pay a year's worth of bills
A years worth of my salary in another savings account

Finished the last of those in December!

I never had requirements but DH did when it came to TTC with #2. He wanted to own a house. Well, we got our house and conceived 2 months later.

We had gotten married, just bought our house, husband had a great job as a supervisor at a shipping company and decided we were ready. So we started trying to conceive, did on our first try annnnnnnnnnd then on Christmas Eve of all days my husband was laid off, our house flooded 3 times in 2 weeks right afterwards, a tornado came through and damaged teh house bad and took one of ours and none of our "were ready" mattered anymre cause we were broke from everything and the house wasnt even remotely ready when he came home.

There's never a perfect time, I think there are "better" times but never the right time.

Yes! Graduate college, have jobs, have a savings, and own a home.

Get healthier & Lose 103lbs.
Pay off credit card (almost done)
& Dh finish A school

No but we met later in life and wanted a family. When we started dating we had already had our careers and owned homes and all that stuff.

I think if we would have met when we were younger then we probably would have had some requirements, but we would have still been happy if we had an accident any time.

We just want to be able to afford what we have and what we would be adding. We figured we would TTC when we were financially comfortable enough to have a set of multiples. Lol like, if we could afford two or three more at once (god only knows) then we could definitely afford one and not have to worry. We have been in that position since last Feb, and it has actually been improving. DH just got his 4 raise/promotion this year  .

Nope we didnt we had a scare about two months into us dating and it was a no go thank goodness we wated kids (he wanted more he has 1) but we didnt know what we wanted from eachother yet. We got married almost two years later we where going to wait a year and start ttc on our 1yr wedding annv. Then decided two months after our wedding lets try and have a baby   and in jan of 2012 we got pregnant!!   I had landed a new great job a few weeks after we found out and then was let go so smurf happens I agree you can be prepared for it but smurf happends and can take all that away. I have a huge amount of requirements before we buy a house tho   kinda messed up but no one can take ure kid away if you have to make due and use a towl for a dipar or use a washcloth instead of wipes   ya cant say ok here take my tv for my house payment this month lol. So other than being married nope we didnt have a list of things we wanted or needed to do before hand I think mainly because he already had a son

After we lost Tatiana, no. I'm waiting until I finish nursing school to TTC our third though.
