Your comment about the c-section was the "mind-blowing" part. You did it under doctors orders and supervision im assuming. The OP is not. Many women have had negative reactions from castor oil just because nothing bad happened to you doesnt mean the OP will have the same results. Especially if she doesnt know what she is doing with it.

My SIL is a registered midwife and she said that is the ONE thing you should NOT try to induce labour.
Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I wouldn't recommend it.
