Need suggestions ASAP

posted 6th Jan
I just burned my whole left side of my chest! With hot boiling water! What should I do. It's hurting so bad even with slightest touch. It's been about 15 mins and starting to blister. Er or no?

I would probably go to Urgent care or the ER to see what degree burn it is if it is over that large of a part of your body. That's asking for an infection.

Get in the shower under room temp water. If it's still burning after that, go to the ER.

Go to the ER. You might need antibiotics.

I am sure you are in pain   You may need a prescription ointment too.

Go to the ER. It's not going to feel any better anytime soon, they'll see what degree burn it is and give you something for it.

It's going to burn regardless. I would recommend the ER.

If she goes to urgent care (I know you weren't the one who mentioned urgent care), and it's serious enough, they will call an ambulance and transport her to the ER anyways.

Go to the ER or urgent care. Especially with such a large part of your body you can get an infection really easily

It will, but the burn can continue to get worse.

I agree it will get worse if un treated. I was just saying she could use this time to either take a room temp shower (Which will actually be extremely uncomfortable because it will feel a lot colder to her than normal), or she could use this time to go to the ER.

I wasn't disagreeing. Room temp water for a burn is a great idea, I just think this is something where she shouldn't waste any time, and seek medical care.

Unless I may have missed something ? ; (If I did, please tell me) I would rather OP be safe than sorry.

No, just when she said it's starting to blister, I'm afraid it's just continuing to burn. She may be stuck at the ER for a while without being seen, so I would hate for it to get worse.

they will see her for blistering burns, and they will use a burn solution with compresses to stop the burning

You are right about that. I didn't even think of the ER waiting time.

OP, if you have Silvadine, that should help too. I really think you should seek medical attention either way. You can try urgent care, but if they deem it too serious, be prepared for an ambulance ride to the hospital.

It really honestly depends. It is sad to say that the ER doesn't always work the way we all think it should.

DH had a patient actively seizing in the hospital, and they took a psych patient (Who was medicated and didn't need immediate medical attention), over the patient who was actively seizing.
